Set seven years prior to the events of the first game, Silent Hill - Origins places the player in charge of Travis Grady, a trucker who is experiencing haunting nightmares. Inexplicably brought to the town of Silent Hill, Travis sets out to unravel the mystery of the cryptic town.

Origins provides an experience that stays true to the previous games in the saga, keeping the same unnerving atmosphere that will have players constantly in suspense. With this game, Konami have introduced a more in-depth combat system, which allows players to use a number of new melee weapons to dispatch enemies, as well as a grappling system activated when an opponent has Travis in their grasp.

Players also now have the option to move freely between the Otherworld found previously, adding a new dimension to the proceedings.

Silent Hill - Origins warrants a purchase from any fan of the series, tying in new gameplay elements with features that made the previous games so popular. Konami has successfully achieved their goal in explaining the backstory of the town, and as such Origins can be enjoyed by fans as well as new players.
